This summer just keeps getting busier

I didn’t quite think it was possible, but this summer just keeps getting busier and busier. It seems we have something going on every weekend. This weekend has been pretty quiet, but a client asked us to fly out next week for an onsite consult, so we’re getting prepped for a whirlwind trip down to their hometown.

Despite the insanity that was this week, I did manage to cook a couple decent dinners. One was a very simple mac and cheese with leeks. The other was pasta primavera with fresh focaccia. Both were very good.

It’s been a while since I’ve made bread and this recipe was very, very easy. The dough was pliable and a joy to work with. For me, making bread is really magic. I watch the changes that happen between raw ingredients through finished food and marvel at the stages: lumpy flour, glossy dense dough ball, fluffy dough, loaf and then, finally, food.
